Passion Artist Statement

 

The word passion refers to a strong emotion or feeling towards someone/something. My initial thought to the word passion was someone’s love for a hobby or something they are good at. My mother is a big inspiration to me and one thing she is known for in my family for being passionate about is cooking. Cooking is her hobby and something she loves learning more about for our family. When someone has a passion they love what they do, and become truly invested in it. My photo represents my mother cooking, smiling because she is in her happy place, cooking and doing what she is passionate about.

 

I was inspired by this concept by watching my mom cook homemade meals almost everyday for me from when I was young until now. She loves providing for my family and teaching herself new recipes, it’s truly inspiring to me. In order to take this photo I needed my mom in a kitchen setting, cooking a meal and looking happy as she usually does. The characters body language shows she is in the process of preparing a meal. The smile on my mom’s face and the apron she’s wearing shows just how passionate she is and how dedicated she is to cooking.

 

While taking this photo I was reminded of how much I appreciate my mother and how inspiring her passion is. My mom is known is my family for her love for cooking and how great she is at it. A passion is a strong emotion or feeling and I see this in my mom when she cooks.
