Happiness Artist Statement

 

    For this photo I was inspired by the word “happiness”. Happiness is simply the state of being happy, and my photo captures pure happiness. There are lots of little things that can make a person happy, but the excitement of your dog greeting your arrival is true happiness. My photo shows the story of a girl returning home from school, and being greeted by an enthusiastic and cheerful dog. The idea revolves around a dog’s love towards their owners creates great happiness.

 

Preparing for this photo included first finding a setting for story, which was a girl walking in her front door returning from school. She is wearing a backpack and her body language shows her entering her home. The girl’s face has a big joyful smile, and the second picture shows the dog’s happiness as well. Also the dog is jumping on the girl, as if excited and overwhelmed with happiness on her arrival. In the end, I created a diptych of two different angles and compositions. I created the diptych for the purpose of showing the dogs immediate love when she opens the door and even when she walks inside, the dog is still happy and all over her.

   

    This photo reminded me that you truly can find happiness if you look around at the people and things that appreciate you. Also, there are many little things in life that if you open your eyes to, can make you very happy. The goal of this photo was to create a relatable photo that shows a story of pure happiness between a dog and its owner's’ arrival.
