Creation Artist Statement

The word creation refers to the action or process of bringing something into existence. Creation can also deal with inventing something using artistic talent. I took the word creation as when you are creating you are using your imagination. My photo represents a chalk drawing of balloons with a girl acting as though the balloons are real and she is being swept away. The creation is the drawing, and the use of imagination was used to create a scene with something that could appear to be real but isn’t.

I was inspired by this photo by the artwork and creativity I see my classmates use everyday in school. When you create a scene out of artwork or a drawing using your imagination it is not only fun but innovative. The process of my photo required a creation or drawing out of chalk in order to make into a scene. I chose balloons because I thought it was whimsical and childlike to have my character act as if the balloons are taking her away. I drew the balloons on pavement and positioned the character's body language on the ground as if she was being swept away in the air. My photo showcases that with creating comes imaginating, and you can use your imagination to make things come to life.

If I could retake this photo there would be a few things I would change. First, I would change the angle of the photo so it was vertical instead of horizontal so the balloons looked as if they were going straight up into the air. I would also change the lighting because it was not ideal and gave unwanted shadows. Overall, I learned from my photo that you can create fun artistic stories with your imagination.
